Danielle and Aaron met at The Mason one night when Aaron fake-insulted Danielle’s outfit. The next day, they matched on OkCupid.
Their first date was at the Chazen museum. Aaron showed up in a nervous cloud of cologne and they toured the exhibits, talking a whole bunch. After 45 minutes, Danielle declared that they weren’t looking at the art and that she was hungry, so let’s go eat. They walked to Paul’s Pel’meni for dumplings. Aaron paid. They talked for a long time and then hugged before parting ways in the cold. It was November 20th.
What followed were many nights of petting cats and watching movies and eating pizza. The first time Aaron met Ed, Aaron was asked to spell many words for him. The first time Danielle met Aaron’s parents, there was a lot of silence. They went to comedy shows and an Elton John impersonator, a Weird Al concert and Danielle’s first BJJ competition. They went to meet and adopt Charlie and Tilly, the lovable fluffy (and gigantic) littermate kittens. Shortly before their first anniversary, Danielle and Aaron went to Negril, Jamaica for a lovely week of swimming and lounging. After months of growing in love, trust, and the confidence to fart around each other, Danielle asked Aaron to move in. Conversation turned to marriage, and a ring was designed.
Finally, the day came when the ring was complete and the jeweler sent pictures to Aaron for final approval. He arrived home in the evening, bubbling with excitement, to find Danielle bawling in the kitchen. She’d had a super rough day at her job and was feeling low. She asked Aaron if he would take care of her (if she lost her job). Aaron told her he wanted to always take care of her for the rest of their lives. He got down on one knee, showed her the picture of the ring on his phone, and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said yes, and then cried even harder.
